Following law school and bar passage, Attorney Makhena Barthelemy worked as a full-time attorney at the Public Defender's Office, where she handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases. During that time she developed the courtroom instincts and trial preparation that define her practice today.
She has tried over 30 cases, with most resulting in "Not Guilty" verdicts — a track record that reflects both her preparation and her willingness to take a case to trial when it's in her client's best interest.
Makhena earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, majoring in criminology with a minor in family, youth, and community sciences. She went on to graduate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where she participated in legal clinics and trial advocacy coursework. In her final year, she served as a Certified Legal Intern at the Palm Beach County Public Defender's Office — a role certified by the Florida Supreme Court that allowed her to represent clients in court while still a law student.
Today, at Barthelemy Law, she brings that same relentless, hands-on approach to every client — offering clear communication, honest guidance, and a defense strategy tailored to each person's goals. Se habla español.
